If your Bihar jamabandi shows a wrong name, khata, khesra or area, apply for correction on the Parimarjan Plus portal through BiharBhumi. You upload a signed affidavit and supporting papers, and the circle officer checks them before changing the record. How Bihar’s digital jamabandi was built
In Bihar, the jamabandi is the page for each raiyat (landholder) in the tenants’ ledger register, also called Register II. The Bihar Land Mutation Act, 2011 defines it that way. An evaluation of Bihar’s land records, published on a state government district website in July 2025, says the department began digitising Register II in 2017 and finished in October 2018.
That digital jamabandi now drives almost every online land service in the state: mutation, rent (lagan) payment, the land possession certificate and Parimarjan itself. The same study notes that the first data entry carried many mistakes, copied from old registers that had not been kept up to date. The original Parimarjan portal came in 2018 and was replaced by Parimarjan Plus in 2021.
For what each column of a jamabandi means, see our guide on reading a jamabandi.
Common errors
The 2025 evaluation found these problems in village checks:
- Khata number, khesra number or area shown as zero or left blank.
- A name recorded with no khata, survey number or area against it.
- Spelling mistakes in the raiyat’s name or father’s name.
- Area that does not match the old khatiyan or the land on the ground.
- Jamabandis that were never put online.
An error blocks other work. BiharBhumi uses the online jamabandi for mutation, so a buyer cannot get dakhil kharij until the seller’s record shows the right plot and area. Our page on dakhil kharij in Bihar explains that process.
What Parimarjan Plus can correct
The Parimarjan Plus page offers two kinds of application:
- Rectification in digitised jamabandi: changes to an entry that is already online.
- Digitisation of a jamabandi not available online: for a record that was missed when the register was computerised.
Within a rectification, the user manual lists three groups of changes:
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Raiyat details | name, father’s name and address. |
| Land details | khata, khesra, area (rakba), boundaries (chauhaddi) and total area. |
| Lagan | the rent amount. |
Documents
Keep each document as a PDF before you start. The affidavit is mandatory for every application; the rest depend on what you are changing.
| Correction | Supporting documents (as needed) |
|---|---|
| Any correction | Filled-in affidavit from the portal (mandatory) |
| Raiyat details | Lagan receipt, mutation correction slip (shuddhi patra), jamabandi register copy, mutation order |
| Address | Aadhaar card, electricity bill, ration card, driving licence or passport |
| Lagan | Voter ID card |
| Land details | Lagan receipt, CS/RS or consolidation khatiyan, mutation correction slip or order, land possession certificate, government land parcha, Bhoodan parcha, BPPHT parwana, evidence of how you acquired the land, certified copies of other circle records |
The affidavit names your mauza, thana number, halka, circle, district, and the volume, page and jamabandi numbers. It also says you own the land and accept legal action if the details you give turn out to be false.
How to apply for correction
- Open biharbhumi.bihar.gov.in and click Parimarjan.
- Log in with your mobile number, or register first if you are a new user, then click Parimarjan Plus.
- Under the option to correct a digital jamabandi, choose Rectification in Old Jamabandi.
- Search for the jamabandi you want corrected and click the arrow (→) next to it.
- Mark YES against each section you want to change, then YES against “parivartan anurodh” (change request) for each field, and type the correct entry.
- Upload the supporting documents and click Preview.
- Check every detail. Use Edit to fix mistakes, or upload the affidavit and finalise.
- After final submission, note the acknowledgement number.
Correct everything in one application where you can. A single request with all its evidence is easier for the circle office to check than several partial ones.
Verification and timelines
Your application goes to the circle office, where the revenue staff report on it and the circle officer decides. If the circle officer has an objection, the application comes back to you with comments. It then shows on your home screen, and you can fix and resubmit it. The study also notes that the correction happens at the circle level and that you visit the office only in specific cases.
On 31 December 2025, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha announced these time limits for Parimarjan Plus cases, and the department repeated them on 15 March 2026:
| Type of error | Time limit |
|---|---|
| Clerical or typing mistakes, such as name or father’s name | 15 working days |
| Technical errors in khata, khesra, lagan and similar entries | 35 working days |
| Special or complex cases needing inquiry | Up to 75 working days |
Track your application on the Parimarjan Plus page with your district, circle and application number. BiharBhumi also has a separate link for applications the circle officer has sent back.
Once the jamabandi is corrected, get a fresh certified copy. From 1 January 2026, Bihar issues certified copies of land revenue records only online, as digitally signed documents with full legal recognition.
If the correction is refused or delayed
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Returned for defects | answer the circle officer’s comments and resubmit with better evidence. |
| Rejected, or stuck past the time limit | call 1800-345-6215 or write to emutationbihar@gmail.com, both listed on the portal. For portal faults, use the complaint management system linked from Parimarjan Plus. |
| A jamabandi opened wrongly in someone else’s name | Section 9 of the Bihar Land Mutation Act, 2011 lets a person with an interest in the land petition the Additional Collector to cancel it. An appeal against that order goes to the Collector within 30 days, and a revision to the Divisional Commissioner within 30 days after that. |
| A dispute over who owns the land | a correction portal cannot settle title. That needs the revenue courts or a civil court, and a lawyer can advise on the right forum. |
