The original 2014 order (GO Ms No 17) covered older people, widows, weavers, toddy tappers, people with HIV-AIDS and people with disabilities. Later orders added beedi workers, single women and filaria patients. The current application form also lists dialysis patients. Telangana Today counts 11 categories in all, including beedi thekadars.

Pension amount by category

GO Ms No 34 of 28 May 2019 raised the amounts from June 2019 (paid from July 2019):

The disability pension was later raised to ₹4,016, according to Telangana Today. During the 2023 election, Congress promised ₹4,000 for all categories and ₹6,000 for people with disabilities. Telangana Today reported in August 2026 that neither increase had been made. Some district pages quote the promised figures, so check the amount in your own sanction record.

  • Children in government, public sector, private, outsourced or contract jobs.
  • Children who are doctors, contractors, professionals or self-employed.

How to apply

The government is sanctioning new Cheyutha pensions in phases. Applications already made at Praja Palana, the 99-day Pragathi Pranalika gram sabhas or Prajavani are being processed on the portal. If you already applied there with the documents, you do not need to apply again.

  1. Download the Cheyutha application form (English or Telugu) from the portal’s Cheyutha Application Forms menu.
  2. Tick your pension type: widow, disabled, toddy tapper, weaver, dialysis, filaria or single women.
  3. Fill in your details as shown on Aadhaar, with your ration card number, annual household income and bank account with IFSC.
  4. Sign the declaration on land, vehicles, business and family employment.
  5. Attach copies of Aadhaar, age proof, the ration card or a Revenue Department income certificate, and the first page of your bank passbook.
  6. Add the category document: husband’s death certificate, separation document or tahsildar’s enquiry report, SADAREM/UDID certificate, Textiles Department certificate or cooperative society membership.
  7. Hand the form in at your MPDO office (rural) or municipality (urban). The MPDO or municipal commissioner enters applications into the system.

Accepted age proof is a birth certificate, a school leaving certificate or the electoral roll. Officials enter the application online and carry out field verification, and the District Collector approves it. Sanction proceedings are then generated online and handed to the beneficiary.

According to Telangana Today, SERP has no instructions yet on new old-age pensions in this round, although offices are receiving applications. Keep your acknowledgement until the next phase is announced.

Checking Aasara status

  1. For a new application, open New Sanctions Applicants Search and enter your application ID or Aadhaar number. You can also search by district, mandal or municipality and gram panchayat or ward.
  2. For an existing pension, open Search Pensioner Details and enter your pension ID, Aadhaar number (UID) or SADAREM ID. You can also search by district, mandal, panchayat and name.
  3. Use Social Security Pensions Digital Dialogue Search with your pension ID or Aadhaar number to see your pension record.

Under the original guidelines, pensions are paid through disbursing agencies after fingerprint or iris authentication using Aadhaar. SERP releases the funds to the districts. If a payment is missing, check your record on the portal and then contact your MPDO or municipal office.

For central schemes you may also be eligible for, see our page on government financial schemes. For older family members with some savings, the Senior Citizen Savings Scheme pays a fixed quarterly interest.
