The official Ayushman card hospital list is the National Health Authority’s hospital search at hospitals.pmjay.gov.in. Pick your state and district, and narrow by hospital type or specialty. Your card gives cashless treatment only at hospitals on that list, and only for treatments in the scheme’s package list.
Key facts
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Official hospital search | hospitals.pmjay.gov.in (Find Hospitals), run by the National Health Authority (NHA) |
| Empanelled hospitals | 36,229 as on 28 February 2026: 19,483 public and 16,746 private |
| Cover | Up to ₹5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary hospital care |
| Where it works | All 36 states and UTs; any empanelled hospital across India (national portability) |
| Treatment list | Health Benefit Package 2022: 1,961 packages across 27 specialties |
| Hospital refuses treatment | Complain on cgrms.pmjay.gov.in or call 14555 (toll-free, 24×7) |
West Bengal was set to sign its agreement with the NHA on 8 June 2026, becoming the 36th state or UT in the scheme, and the health ministry said on 28 July 2026 that all 36 now run it. Delhi joined as the 35th on 5 April 2025. Hospital lists for both are still growing, so search again if a nearby hospital does not show up yet.
How to search empanelled hospitals
- Open hospitals.pmjay.gov.in and click Find Hospitals.
- Select your State, then your District.
- Optionally choose a Hospital Type: Public, Private (Not For Profit) or Private (For Profit).
- Optionally choose a Speciality, such as S5-Orthopaedics or MC-Cardiology, to see only hospitals that offer it.
- Set Empanelment Type to PMJAY. Other options cover CGHS and CAPF hospitals.
- Type the captcha characters and click Search.
The same page has a Suspended Hospitals List. Check it before you travel to a hospital, because a suspended hospital cannot admit you under the scheme.
Searching near you or in Delhi
For “near me” results, the NHA’s newer Hospital Empanelment Module search at hem.nha.gov.in offers search by pin code, district or facility name, according to its search page. For Delhi, choose “NCT OF Delhi” as the state on the main search, then pick the district.
Is there an Ayushman hospital list PDF?
The NHA search gives results on screen, not as one national PDF. Some State Health Agencies publish district-wise PDFs. Haryana, for example, posts one PDF per district on ayushmanbharat.haryana.gov.in. A PDF can go out of date, so confirm a hospital on the live search before you rely on it. Lists copied on private websites are not official.
Reading the listing: specialties and type
Each result shows the hospital and the specialties it is empanelled for. That second part matters more than the name.
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Specialty codes. | Surgical specialties start with S (S3-Opthalmology, S7-Urology) and medical ones with M (M5-Medical Oncology). A hospital empanelled only for general surgery cannot treat you for cancer under the scheme, even if it has an oncology ward. |
| Hospital type. | Public hospitals are government-run. Private hospitals join voluntarily and choose their specialties. |
| Empanelment type. | “PMJAY and CGHS” or “PMJAY and CAPF” means the hospital also serves those schemes. “Only CGHS” or “Only CAPF” hospitals do not take Ayushman cards. |
Search by the specialty you need, not only by district. That filter removes hospitals that cannot help with your treatment.
What treatment is covered
PM-JAY pays fixed rates for listed treatments. A Lok Sabha answer of 20 March 2026 said the latest list, HBP 2022, has 1,961 packages across 27 specialties, including cancer care, cardiac surgery, bone marrow transplant and kidney transplant. As on 28 February 2026, 26 states and UTs had adopted HBP 2022, so the list and rates can differ slightly by state.
Three rules decide whether a hospital can treat you:
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| The package must be on the list. | Package rates include registration, bed and other listed costs. |
| Some packages are reserved for public hospitals. | The NHA’s package guidelines let a state reserve certain packages for government hospitals. A private hospital can then treat you only after a referral from a public hospital. |
| The ₹5 lakh family limit applies. | Once the family’s yearly limit is used up, the hospital must tell you in advance about any extra payment. |
For eligibility, the card itself and the ₹5 lakh cover, see our Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY page.
Cashless process at the hospital
- Go to the Ayushman help desk at the empanelled hospital and meet the Pradhan Mantri Arogya Mitra.
- Show your Ayushman card and identity proof so the Arogya Mitra can verify you on the scheme’s system.
- The doctor decides the treatment, and the hospital picks the matching package.
- The hospital raises a pre-authorisation request for the package, which the State Health Agency’s system approves.
- You are admitted and treated without paying for listed services, medicines and tests.
- At discharge, collect your papers and make sure the hospital returns your card.
You can use the card outside your home state, and Arogya Mitras help patients from other states too. The PIB reported 29.05 lakh inter-state admissions worth ₹8,383.97 crore authorised up to 30 June 2026.
If you do not have a card yet, the Arogya Mitra can check your eligibility. Our guide to applying for and downloading the Ayushman card covers the steps, and people aged 70 or above can read about the Ayushman Vay Vandana card.
Hospital refused the card: what to do
The health ministry told Parliament in March 2026 that empanelled hospitals cannot deny treatment to eligible beneficiaries. The NHA’s grievance guidelines treat these as emergency (SOS) complaints if raised during your hospital stay:
- refusing treatment under PM-JAY at admission
- asking for money for services the scheme covers
- asking you to buy medicines or tests from outside that the scheme covers
- keeping your card at discharge
- no Arogya Mitra available, or one who will not help
To complain:
- Call 14555, or lodge the complaint on cgrms.pmjay.gov.in with OTP verification.
- Note the Unique Grievance Number (UGN) sent to you by SMS.
- For an SOS complaint, the guidelines set a turnaround of 6 working hours at the state grievance officer. If that is missed, the system alerts the State Health Agency’s CEO.
- Other complaints go through district, state and national grievance committees, which should decide within 30 days.
- If you disagree with a committee’s decision, appeal within 30 days to the next level.
Keep bills and receipts if you were made to pay. The same system handles demands for money made before admission or after discharge.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find an Ayushman card hospital near me?
Use Find Hospitals on hospitals.pmjay.gov.in with your state and district, or search by pin code on hem.nha.gov.in. You can also call 14555.
Where can I get the Ayushman card hospital list PDF?
There is no single national PDF. Some State Health Agencies, such as Haryana’s, publish district-wise PDFs. Check any PDF against the live NHA search.
Which hospitals in Delhi accept the Ayushman card?
Delhi has run PM-JAY since April 2025. Select “NCT OF Delhi” and your district on hospitals.pmjay.gov.in to see the current list.
Can I use my Ayushman card in a private hospital?
Yes, if the private hospital is empanelled for the specialty you need. Some packages are reserved for public hospitals and need a referral first.
Can I use my Ayushman card in another state?
Yes. National portability lets you get cashless treatment at any empanelled hospital in India.
What if an empanelled hospital asks me to pay?
Complain on cgrms.pmjay.gov.in or call 14555 while you are still admitted. Asking for money for covered services is a listed grievance.
Are all diseases covered at every listed hospital?
No. A hospital can treat you under the scheme only for the specialties it is empanelled for, and only for listed packages.
