Services Available on the EPFO WhatsApp Channel
EPF subscribers can use the verified WhatsApp service to access routine provident fund information directly on their mobile phones. The chat interface provides members with their current PF balance and lists their latest five transactions. Subscribers can also view passbook information without visiting regional EPFO offices. In addition, the service delivers personalised guidance and assistance to help members complete PMVBRY-related requirements.
Automatic Settlement for Inoperative EPF Accounts
The Ministry of Labour & Employment launched an automatic settlement system for eligible inoperative EPF accounts. Subscribers holding Aadhaar-verified inoperative EPF accounts with balances up to ₹1,000 will not need to file individual claims. EPFO will process and initiate claim settlements automatically after carrying out identity and bank-account verification. The organization expects this automatic transfer process to benefit approximately one lakh inoperative accounts involving a total amount of ₹5 crore.
Claim Settlement Times and Operational Scale
EPFO highlighted recent administrative improvements during its 74th Foundation Day event at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. Implementation of technological updates under CITES 2.01 reduced the average claim settlement time to 2.57 days in October 2026. Central Provident Fund Commissioner Shri Ramesh Krishnamurthi noted that EPFO manages a retirement corpus of nearly ₹32 lakh crore. The institution currently serves about 8 crore contributory members and 85 lakh pensioners across India.
