4Price band announced — pending. If the RHP leaves the price band blank, it must be announced at least two working days before the issue opens.

Dates, prices and issue sizes circulating before the RHP are estimates, not official terms. Our guide to tracking upcoming IPOs explains how to follow filings as they appear.

Abridged prospectus.A short summary that must be available with every application form, with a QR code link to the RHP.

When the RHP is out, check the size of the retail, employee and shareholder quotas, the cut-off date for shareholder eligibility, the lot size and the registrar.

Investor categories and the RIL shareholder quota

Because the draft uses Regulation 6(1), the net offer must follow this split:

Category Who Share of net offer
Retail individual investors Individuals bidding up to ₹2 lakh At least 35%
Non-institutional investors Bids above ₹2 lakh (one-third of this portion for ₹2 lakh–₹10 lakh, two-thirds for above ₹10 lakh) At least 15%
Qualified institutional buyers Institutions; up to 60% of this portion can go to anchor investors At most 50%

The draft also proposes separate quotas for eligible employees and eligible RIL shareholders. Under Regulation 33 of the ICDR Regulations:

  • A quota for shareholders of a listed promoter company can be up to 10% of the issue size.
  • An employee quota can be up to 5% of post-issue capital, with allotment per employee capped at ₹2 lakh (₹5 lakh if the quota is undersubscribed).
  • Anyone bidding in a reserved quota cannot also bid in the net offer, except employees and retail individual shareholders. A retail individual shareholder bids up to ₹2 lakh, so a small RIL shareholder may bid in both the shareholder quota and the retail category.

Who counts as an “eligible RIL shareholder”, and on what date, will be set out in the RHP. Until then, no one can say which RIL holders qualify.

How to apply when the issue opens

  1. Make sure you have a demat account, and that its PAN matches the PAN linked to your bank account. Our explainer on how a demat account works covers the basics.
  2. Read the RHP and the price band notice, and decide your category: retail, non-institutional, employee or shareholder.
  3. Apply through your bank’s net banking (ASBA), or through your broker’s app with your own UPI ID. UPI can be used for applications up to ₹5 lakh.
  4. Enter the number of lots and a price within the band. Retail investors, employees and retail shareholders can choose the cut-off price instead.
  5. For a UPI bid, approve the mandate in your UPI app with your PIN. The draft sets the UPI mandate deadline at 5 pm on the closing day.
  6. Save the application number for checking allotment.

Use only one application per PAN in each category. Multiple applications under the same PAN are liable to be rejected. Our IPO calendar will list the issue once dates are announced.

Allotment and listing timeline under T+3

SEBI’s T+3 rule applies to every issue opening on or after 1 December 2023. T is the closing day.

Day What happens
T Bidding closes; UPI mandates must be approved by 5 pm
T+1 Basis of allotment approved by 9 pm
T+2 Money debited or unblocked; shares credited to demat by 6 pm
T+3 Shares list and trading begins on BSE and NSE

You can check the result on the registrar’s website or on the BSE and NSE status pages. If the retail category is oversubscribed, a draw of lots decides which applicants get one lot each.
