Where to buy silver in Delhi

The silver trade in Delhi sits in Dariba Kalan, Chandni Chowk. A silver and gold lane inside Chandni Chowk trading since the Mughal period; Karol Bagh is the modern bridal-jewellery cluster.

Jewellery houses founded in Delhi or elsewhere in Delhi include PC Jeweller, Hazoorilal Legacy and Mehrasons. A chain’s own board rate is its rate, not the benchmark: it already carries the house’s premium and it is the making charge underneath, not the headline, that decides what the piece costs.

Silver in the north is bought for utensils, gifting and puja articles, and increasingly as bar. Quoted rates are usually per kilogram; per-gram quotes are for small articles.

Hallmarking centres in Delhi

Delhi has 36 operative BIS-recognised assaying and hallmarking centres, which places it 3rd of the fifty cities on this site. That is one of the deepest concentrations in the country and it is the reason a second opinion on purity is easy to get here: Delhi alone holds 2.6% of every operative centre in India. Hallmarking is compulsory on gold jewellery, and the mark carries a six-digit HUID that can be checked against the BIS register before money changes hands. Every centre below is named in that register.

Gold in Delhi

Gold-to-silver ratio
67.6grams of silver buy one gram of gold

Both legs are the IBJA fix for the same session, so the ratio moves only when one metal moves against the other.

Common questions

What is the silver rate in Delhi today?

Silver of 999 fineness is ₹2,21,109 a kilogram, or ₹221 a gram, on the IBJA fix of 9 Oct 2026, before 3% GST.

What does 100 grams of silver cost in Delhi?

100 grams of 999 silver is ₹22,111 at the fix, or ₹22,774 with GST added.

Why is the making charge higher on silver than on gold?

It is not higher in rupees. It is higher as a share of the bill, because the labour on a silver article costs much the same as on a gold one while the metal underneath is a fraction of the price.

Does the silver rate change by city?

IBJA fixes one rate for India and it is the rate lenders and jewellers price against. What changes locally is the making charge, the dealer premium on small pieces and how much competition there is: Delhi has 36 BIS-recognised assaying and hallmarking centres.

Has silver gone up or down over the last year?

Silver is up 40.2% over twelve months, and up 265.1% over five years, measured in rupees.
