The date of the next PM-Kisan instalment, the 24th, had not been announced as of 18 September 2026. The scheme pays ₹2,000 three times a year, one instalment for each four-month period: April–July, August–November and December–March. The 23rd instalment, for April–July, was released on 20 June 2026, so the 24th is the one for August–November 2026.
Key facts
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Amount | ₹6,000 a year in three instalments of ₹2,000 |
| Instalment periods | April–July, August–November, December–March |
| Latest instalment | 23rd, released 20 June 2026 from Tarakeswar, Hooghly, West Bengal |
| Next instalment | 24th, for August–November 2026; date not yet announced |
| Conditions for payment | Land records seeded, Aadhaar-seeded bank account, e-KYC done |
| Scheme period | Cabinet approved continuation from 2026-27 to 2030-31 on 31 July 2026 |
The three instalment windows
The PM-Kisan operational guidelines say the ₹6,000 is paid in three instalments of ₹2,000, one every four-month period. The windows are fixed. The day of release within or near a window is not.
The windows also decide when a new farmer starts getting paid. If your state uploads your name in a given four-month period, you are entitled to that period’s instalment and the later ones in that financial year, under paragraph 5.4 of the guidelines. A farmer approved in September 2026 would therefore start with the August–November instalment.
On 31 July 2026 the Union Cabinet approved continuing the scheme from 2026-27 to 2030-31, with an outlay of ₹3.15 lakh crore. The instalments will carry on through that period.
How release dates are announced
The government does not publish a calendar in advance. The Prime Minister releases each instalment at a public event, and the agriculture ministry announces the date a few days before. Recent examples:
| Instalment | Release date | Place | PIB announcement |
|---|---|---|---|
| 19th | 24 February 2025 | Bhagalpur, Bihar | 22 February 2025 |
| 20th | 2 August 2025 | Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh | 1 August 2025 |
| 21st | 19 November 2025 | Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu | Released the same day |
| 22nd | 13 March 2026 | Guwahati, Assam | 11 March 2026 |
| 23rd | 20 June 2026 | Tarakeswar, West Bengal | 18 June 2026 |
The gap between releases has ranged from about three to five months. On 18 September 2026 the PM-Kisan home page and its press release page still named the 23rd as the latest instalment, with nothing on the 24th. Treat any date you see online before the official announcement as a guess. Reliable places to watch are pib.gov.in, the PM-Kisan home page and the scheme’s official social media accounts.
Checks to finish before the next instalment
PIB says benefits go only to farmers whose land records are seeded on the portal, whose bank account is linked to Aadhaar, and who have completed e-KYC. Do these now, well before the release:
- Open pmkisan.gov.in, go to Farmers Corner and click Know Your Status.
- Enter your registration number and the OTP, and check that land seeding, e-KYC and Aadhaar-bank seeding all show Yes.
- If e-KYC shows No, complete it by OTP on the portal, by fingerprint at a Common Service Centre, or by face scan on the PM-Kisan app.
- If Aadhaar-bank seeding shows No, ask your bank to seed Aadhaar and enable the account for DBT.
- If land seeding shows No, contact your revenue or agriculture office to correct the land record.
- Use Update Missing Information or Edit/Update Self Registration in Farmers Corner if your details are incomplete.
Our guides on PM-Kisan e-KYC and reading your beneficiary status explain each field and fix.
Instalment not received: what to do
Check whether the release reached other farmers first. If it did and you got nothing, work through these steps:
- Open Know Your Status and read the payment details for the latest instalment, including the UTR number and credit date.
- If the status shows a credit, ask your bank to trace it with the UTR number. The money goes to the account seeded with your Aadhaar, which may not be your usual account.
- If it shows a reason for stopped payment, fix that reason first.
- Raise a query through Helpdesk – Query Form in Farmers Corner, or ask the Kisan eMitra chatbot.
- Contact your block or district agriculture officer if the problem is with state verification.
The ministry has told Parliament that failed payments are reprocessed and that, once a record is corrected, the benefit is paid with the next release. The PIB note on the 23rd instalment explains the flow: the state verifies your details, PFMS checks the account, and the money moves through sponsor banks and NPCI.
Past instalments and how to verify credits
Know Your Status lists every instalment paid to you, with the bank, mode and credit date. Match these against your passbook or bank SMS. The latest releases were:
- 22nd: over ₹18,640 crore to more than 9.32 crore farmers.
- 23rd: about ₹18,880 crore to 9.44 crore farmers on release day. The Cabinet note of 31 July 2026 later put it at over ₹18,984 crore to more than 9.49 crore farmers.
If you received money you were not entitled to, for example because you paid income tax, Farmers Corner has an Online Refund option. PM-Kisan is income support, separate from crop loans; see our page on agriculture loans and the Kisan Credit Card for credit options.
