Awaas Plus 2024 (also searched as “Awas Plus 2024”) is the app-based survey that adds left-out rural families to the PMAY-G waitlist for 2024-29. Surveyors or the families themselves filled it in on the AwaasPlus 2024 Android app. The nationwide window closed on 15 May 2025. A few states got later extensions, the latest to 14 September 2026 for 61 gram panchayats in Chhattisgarh.

Why the Awaas Plus 2024 survey is being done
On 9 August 2024 the Union Cabinet approved PMAY-G for FY 2024-25 to 2028-29, with an outlay of ₹3,06,137 crore. It also approved updating the Awaas+ list with modified exclusion criteria. Earlier beneficiaries came from the SECC 2011 Permanent Wait List and the Awaas+ 2018 list. The 2024 survey finds eligible households those lists missed.
Who can be surveyed and who is excluded
Exclusion works in two steps, according to the Ministry’s reply in the Lok Sabha on 3 December 2024.
Step 1: households living in a house with a pucca roof and/or pucca wall, or with more than 2 rooms, are filtered out.
Step 2: a household meeting any one of these 10 criteria is excluded automatically:
- Owns a motorised three- or four-wheeler.
- Owns mechanised three- or four-wheeler farm equipment.
- Holds a Kisan Credit Card with a limit of ₹50,000 or more.
- Has a member who is a government employee.
- Runs a non-agricultural enterprise registered with the government.
- Has a member earning more than ₹15,000 a month.
- Pays income tax.
- Pays professional tax.
- Owns 2.5 acres or more of irrigated land.
- Owns 5 acres or more of unirrigated land.
What changed for this phase: owning a motorised two-wheeler, a mechanised fishing boat, a landline phone or a refrigerator no longer excludes a family. The income limit went up from ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 a month, and the land rules were simplified.
Assisted survey vs self-survey
| Point | Assisted survey | Self-survey |
|---|---|---|
| Who fills it | A pre-registered surveyor mapped to the gram panchayat | A household member or an authorised representative |
| Login | Surveyor’s face e-KYC, then a device PIN | Face-authentication e-KYC with Aadhaar |
| Limit | Only villages mapped to that surveyor | One self-survey per device, in the village where the family lives |
| Offline use | Allowed; upload later | Survey saves after each screen |
| Next check | Random checks by officials | Must be confirmed by the gram panchayat’s surveyor |
The app runs only on Android phones. The ministry’s survey page also links the AadhaarFaceRD app, which is used for face-based e-KYC.
Details and documents captured
- Village location, chosen from the official district, block and panchayat lists.
- Details of every household member, including Aadhaar numbers, mobile numbers and socio-economic details.
- Choice of the beneficiary. If the family has a female member, she must be chosen.
- Face e-KYC of the beneficiary. If it fails, the app stores the photo so e-KYC can be done later.
- Bank account details, which are optional because payments go through the Aadhaar Payment Bridge.
- Answers on the type of house, plus geo-tagged, time-stamped photos of the current house and the proposed site.
- A preferred house design, then a declaration that the details are true.
Once a survey is uploaded, it cannot be changed. A self-survey stays incomplete until the beneficiary’s e-KYC is done. False details can lead to administrative action against the household.
Verification, gram sabha and appeals
| # | Item | Details |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Corroboration | the gram panchayat’s surveyor checks each self-survey and uploads evidence. The result reaches the applicant by SMS and in the app. |
| 2 | Random checks | a checker verifies 10% of cases, the BDO 5% and a district officer 2%. Where the evidence does not match, the checker verifies every such case. |
| 3 | Job card check | MGNREGA job card details are validated through NREGASoft. |
| 4 | Deletion of ineligible cases | the BDO recommends and an ADM, Zila Parishad CEO or equivalent officer decides. Surveyors and checkers cannot delete a case themselves. |
| 5 | Gram sabha | the gram sabha verifies the list. |
| 6 | Appellate committee | the list is final only after this committee vets it. |
Under the PMAY-G Framework for Implementation (2022), the verified list is displayed in the gram panchayat for at least 7 days. A 15-day window then follows for complaints about deletion or ranking. You can file with a village functionary or directly with the block-level competent authority. A three-member appellate committee at district level, headed by the collector or a nominee, decides the complaints.
How to check if your name made the list
- If you did a self-survey, open the AwaasPlus 2024 app and check the corroboration result, which is also sent by SMS.
- Go to pmayg.dord.gov.in > Stakeholders > AwaasPlus Beneficiary Details.
- Select your state, enter your 9-digit Awaas Plus ID and the captcha.
- Check the gram panchayat notice board for the published list.
- Once a house is sanctioned, search IAY/PMAYG Beneficiary with your registration number.
Our PMAY-G guide covers eligibility and benefits once your house is sanctioned.
Is the survey still open?
Not nationally. After 15 May 2025 the ministry gave extra time only to states that asked. West Bengal was allowed until 20 July 2026 and then more time by a letter of 21 July 2026. Chhattisgarh got until 14 September 2026 for 229 villages in 61 gram panchayats of Sukma, Narayanpur and Bijapur. The ministry said it would grant no further extension there.
If your family was missed, ask your gram panchayat or block development office whether your state still has any window. You can also raise a grievance, including on CPGRAMS. See our housing schemes hub for other options.
