Where your Udyam number may already be

Check your own papers before you use the portal. The number is printed on the Udyam Registration Certificate, the e-certificate issued when registration is complete. The certificate carries a dynamic QR code that opens the enterprise’s page on the portal.

Also search your email for messages from the portal around the date you registered. If you have used the number for a loan, a TReDS account or a tender, it will be in those files too. Our Udyam registration guide covers how the registration itself works; this page is only about finding a number you already have.

Retrieving the number with your mobile or email

The portal’s forgot-number tool works for both Udyam numbers and old Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) numbers.

  1. Go to udyamregistration.gov.in.
  2. Open the Print/Verify menu and click Forgot Udyam/UAM Number.
  3. Under “Choose Registration Option”, select Udyam Registration (or Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum for an old UAM).
  4. Choose Mobile or Email as the OTP option. Pick the one you filled in the application.
  5. Enter that mobile number or email ID.
  6. Click Validate & Generate OTP.
  7. Enter the OTP and click Validate OTP.
  8. Note down the registration numbers shown on screen.

The tool searches by the contact details in your application, not by Aadhaar or PAN. If you enter a different mobile number, no record will come up. Write the number down exactly, including the hyphens.

Reprinting the Udyam certificate

Once you have the number, you can download the certificate again.

  1. Open Print/Verify and click Print Udyam Certificate. This opens the Udyami Login page.
  2. Enter your 19-character Udyam Registration Number.
  3. Enter the mobile number given in the application.
  4. Choose OTP on Mobile or OTP on Email, as filled in the application.
  5. Type the verification code and click Validate & Generate OTP.
  6. Enter the OTP and click Validate OTP & Login.
  7. Open the print option in your account and save the certificate as a PDF.

To check someone else’s registration, such as a supplier’s, use Verify Udyam Registration under the same menu.

If your registered mobile number has changed

Both the forgot-number tool and the login let you choose an email OTP instead of a mobile OTP. If you still use the email ID from your application, retrieve the number and log in that way. Then update your details from the same login, which also handles Update/Cancel Udyam Registration.

If you have lost both the old mobile and the old email, the portal offers no self-service fix. Contact the Udyam grievance line on +91 8308809334 or write to champions@gov.in. You can also visit your District Industries Centre (DIC). Under the Udyam notification of 26 June 2020, DICs and the Ministry’s Champions Control Rooms act as single-window points that help enterprises with registration. Carry your Aadhaar, your PAN and any document showing the enterprise’s details.

Do not file a fresh registration to get a new number. The notification says no enterprise shall file more than one Udyam Registration. Any number of activities can be added to the one you have.

Updating your Udyam details

An enterprise with a Udyam number must update its information on the portal, including details of the previous year’s income tax return and GST return. The notification says failing to update within the time shown on the portal can lead to suspension of its status. Classification as micro, small or medium is revised from ITR and GST data.

Keep your mobile number and email current on the portal. That is the only way the forgot-number and login tools can reach you.

Old Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) holders

The 2020 notification required enterprises with UAM or EM-II registrations to register again on the Udyam portal. If your forgot-number search returns only a UAM number, use “For those already having registration as UAM” on the home page to move to Udyam.

Avoid paid look-alike sites

Search results for “forgot Udyam number” include private sites with official-looking names that charge for the same OTP steps. The Ministry’s portal says it is the only government portal for Udyam registration. Only the portal and the government’s single-window systems are authorised to handle the registration. Registration is free and paperless, so you never need to pay anyone to recover a number.

A Udyam certificate helps with collateral-free loans and invoice financing. See our pages on MSME and Mudra loans and invoice discounting through TReDS.
