To get an instant personal loan online, apply on a bank’s or NBFC’s website or app. Enter your PAN and income, complete e-KYC, and read the Key Fact Statement before you accept. The money must go into your own bank account. Pre-approved customers can be paid within minutes; new applicants wait longer while income and KYC are checked.

Before you apply: check the lender, not the app

RBI regulates the bank or NBFC that lends, not the app you download. Since 1 July 2025, RBI has published a directory of digital lending apps that regulated lenders have reported to it. Before you share any details:

  • find the lender’s name on the app or website. A genuine app names the bank or NBFC up front;
  • check that the app appears in RBI’s directory against that lender;
  • refuse any app that asks for access to your contacts, photos or call logs. RBI’s rules bar lending apps from these, and allow only one-time camera, microphone or location access for KYC.

Our RBI approved loan apps guide explains how to run these checks.

Eligibility and documents

Each lender sets its own criteria, but it must at least record your age, occupation and income before it lends. Expect to need:

  • PAN, which most lenders use to pull your credit report;
  • Aadhaar, for e-KYC through an OTP;
  • a bank account in your name, for disbursal and the EMI mandate;
  • salary slips or bank statements, if the lender cannot confirm your income from its own records;
  • employer details if you are salaried, or business proof such as ITRs if you are self-employed.

RBI has not set a minimum credit score, but a low score usually means a higher rate or a rejection. Check the personal loan eligibility rules before you apply to several lenders at once.

How to apply for an instant personal loan online, step by step

  1. Open the lender’s official website or app. For a bank, its site now ends in .bank.in.
  2. Enter your mobile number and verify it with the OTP.
  3. Enter your PAN, date of birth, employment type and monthly income. The lender runs a credit check at this stage.
  4. Choose the loan amount and tenure from the offer shown. Change the tenure to see how the EMI moves.
  5. Complete e-KYC with Aadhaar OTP, or video KYC if the lender asks for it.
  6. Upload income proof, or give consent for the lender to fetch bank statements, if asked.
  7. Read the Key Fact Statement. Check the annual percentage rate (APR), processing fee, total amount payable and penal charges.
  8. Set up the EMI mandate on your bank account by e-mandate or UPI AutoPay.
  9. Sign the agreement with an OTP or e-sign.
  10. Wait for the money to reach your bank account, and download the sanction letter and agreement.

How fast is the disbursal?

Speed depends mostly on whether the lender already knows you. A salary-account holder with a pre-approved offer skips income checks, so payout can take minutes. A new customer may wait for income verification, video KYC or a manual review. Lenders’ “instant” claims describe their best case, not a promise.

What the loan costs

The APR in the Key Fact Statement is the number to compare. It includes the interest rate and the fees you pay. On a ₹2,00,000 loan over 3 years, the rate makes a large difference:

Interest rate EMI Total interest
9.99% ₹6,452 ₹32,290
24.00% ₹7,847 ₹82,477

Figures exclude processing fees and GST. Try other amounts with the EMI calculator.

After the loan is paid out

ItemDetails
Cooling-offyou can exit a digital loan in the cooling-off period by repaying the principal and the proportionate APR, with no penalty. The period is set by the lender but cannot be less than one day. The lender may keep a one-time processing fee if it disclosed this in the KFS.
RepaymentsEMIs must go straight to the lender’s account, not through an app company’s pool account.
Credit reportlenders now report data four times a month, so a missed EMI can reach your credit report within days.
Complaintswrite to the lender’s grievance officer first. If there is no reply in 30 days, or you are not satisfied, complain on RBI’s Complaint Management System within 90 days under the Integrated Ombudsman Scheme, 2026.
Harassment or fraudreport to cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930, and report unregistered lenders on RBI’s Sachet portal.

Frequently asked questions

How do I apply for an instant personal loan online?

Apply on a bank’s or NBFC’s website or app, verify your mobile number, enter your PAN and income, complete e-KYC, read the Key Fact Statement, set up the EMI mandate and sign with an OTP.

Can I get instant personal loan approval online in India without documents?

Pre-approved customers often need only PAN and an OTP, because the lender already holds their KYC and income data. New customers usually have to show income proof.

How can I get a personal loan online fast?

Start with the bank where your salary is credited, since it can check your income itself. Keep PAN, Aadhaar-linked mobile and bank details ready, and do not apply to many lenders on the same day.

Which lenders offer fast disbursal personal loans?

Most large banks and NBFCs offer online personal loans with quick disbursal to existing customers. We do not rank them. Compare the APR in each offer’s Key Fact Statement instead.

Can I get any amount as a quick personal loan?

No. The lender sets the amount from your income, existing EMIs and credit score. A larger amount usually needs more checks and takes longer.

Can I cancel an instant loan after taking it?

Yes, within the cooling-off period of at least one day, by repaying the principal and the proportionate APR. The lender may keep the processing fee if the KFS says so.
