A bike loan EMI calculator works out your monthly instalment from three numbers: the loan amount, the annual interest rate and the tenure in months. At 12.40% a year, a ₹1,00,000 two-wheeler loan over 3 years costs ₹3,341 a month, and you repay ₹20,260 in interest.
Bank two-wheeler loan rates on 17 September 2026 start at 10.75% (Bank of Baroda’s digital loan) and reach 15.70% at SBI, and HDFC Bank’s customers paid up to 25.02% between April and June 2026. Put the rate you are actually offered into the EMI calculator before you sign.

The EMI formula a bike loan calculator uses
Every two-wheeler loan EMI calculator applies the same reducing-balance formula:
EMI = P × r × (1 + r)^n ÷ ((1 + r)^n − 1)
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| P | is the loan amount: on-road price minus your down payment. |
| r | is the monthly rate: the annual rate divided by 12, then by 100. At 12.40%, r is 0.010333. |
| n | is the tenure in months: 36 for a three-year loan. |
Each EMI first pays that month’s interest on the balance still owed, and the rest reduces the principal. Early EMIs are mostly interest. Later ones are mostly principal.
How to calculate your bike loan EMI
- Take the on-road price from the dealer’s quote: ex-showroom price, RTO registration and insurance.
- Subtract your down payment to get the loan amount.
- Enter the loan amount, the annual rate the lender quoted, and the tenure in years or months.
- Read the EMI, the total interest and the total amount payable.
- Add the processing fee and documentation charges separately, since the calculator does not include them.
- Change the tenure or down payment and compare the totals, not only the EMI.
Bike loan EMI table for a ₹1 lakh loan
The table uses rates from the key facts above. Figures are rounded to the nearest rupee.
| Rate a year | 2 years | 3 years | 4 years | Interest over 3 years |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10.75% | ₹4,649 | ₹3,262 | ₹2,572 | ₹17,434 |
| 12.40% | ₹4,726 | ₹3,341 | ₹2,653 | ₹20,260 |
| 14.50% | ₹4,825 | ₹3,442 | ₹2,758 | ₹23,916 |
| 18.22% | ₹5,003 | ₹3,626 | ₹2,949 | ₹30,546 |
For other amounts, scale in proportion. At 12.40% over 3 years, ₹50,000 costs ₹1,670 a month and ₹2,00,000 costs ₹6,681. A ₹3,00,000 superbike loan at 12.55% over 4 years costs ₹7,981 a month.
Bike EMI calculator with down payment
A larger down payment cuts both the EMI and the interest. Take a bike with an on-road price of ₹1,20,000, a rate of 12.40% and a 3-year term:
| Down payment | Loan amount | EMI | Total interest |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10% (₹12,000) | ₹1,08,000 | ₹3,608 | ₹21,881 |
| 20% (₹24,000) | ₹96,000 | ₹3,207 | ₹19,450 |
| 30% (₹36,000) | ₹84,000 | ₹2,806 | ₹17,019 |
Each extra ₹12,000 paid upfront saves about ₹400 a month and ₹2,400 in interest here. Keep enough cash aside for the first year’s insurance premium; our bike insurance guide explains the compulsory cover.
Charges the EMI does not show
HDFC Bank’s published two-wheeler loan charges show what else can be added:
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Processing fee | up to 2.5% of the loan, so up to ₹2,500 on ₹1 lakh. |
| Documentation charges | up to 2.25% of the loan. |
| RC collection fee | up to ₹850, plus RTO charges at actuals and state stamp duty. |
| Foreclosure | 5% of the principal outstanding within 24 months, 3% after that. |
| Late EMI | interest at the loan rate for each day the EMI is late, added to the next EMI. |
Under RBI’s Pre-payment Charges on Loans Directions, lenders cannot charge for prepaying a floating-rate loan taken by an individual for non-business use, for loans sanctioned or renewed on or after 1 January 2026. Fixed-rate loans can still carry a charge, so ask which type you are signing for.
Flat rates from dealers
Some dealer schemes quote a flat rate, charged on the full loan for the whole term. A 7% flat rate on ₹1 lakh for 3 years means ₹21,000 of interest and an EMI of ₹3,361, which equals about 12.8% on a reducing balance. Compare offers only after converting them.
Bike loan EMI due date and your credit score
Your EMI date is set in the loan agreement, usually tied to the auto-debit (NACH) mandate you sign. Pay a day or two early if your salary date is close to it, because a bounced mandate adds a return charge (₹450 at HDFC Bank) as well as late interest.
Since 1 July 2026, lenders must report credit data to credit bureaus as on the 9th, 16th, 23rd and last day of each month. A missed EMI can therefore reach your credit report within about a week, where earlier it could take a month.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate bike loan EMI?
Use EMI = P × r × (1 + r)^n ÷ ((1 + r)^n − 1), with r as the monthly rate and n as months. A ₹1 lakh loan at 12.40% for 36 months gives ₹3,341.

SBI charges 11.70% to 15.70%, Bank of Baroda 12.40% floating or 10.75% to 13.65% fixed, and HDFC Bank starts at 14.50%, per their rate pages in September 2026.

At 12.40% it is ₹6,681 a month over 3 years, or about ₹5,306 over 4 years.
Is a longer tenure better for a two-wheeler loan?

Can I close my bike loan early without a penalty?
