How to change rupees into euros
- Pick an authorised seller: an authorised dealer bank or an RBI-licensed full-fledged money changer.
- Decide the form: a bank transfer for fees or rent, a forex card for spending, and a small amount of cash for arrival.
- Compare the seller’s selling rate for that form against the day’s reference rate. The gap is your cost.
- Give your PAN, which is mandatory for all transactions under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS).
- Pay in cash only if the total is below ₹50,000. From ₹50,000 upward, pay by cheque, draft, pay order, or debit, credit or prepaid card.
- Keep euro notes within USD 3,000 or its equivalent per trip, and load the rest on a card.
