Why ₹50,000 is never a first loan

PM SVANidhi lends in three steps, and each tranche is disbursed only after the one before it is fully repaid. The Loan Operational Guidelines set the ladder as up to ₹15,000 for 12 months, up to ₹25,000 for 18 months, and up to ₹50,000 for 36 months.

The first two amounts used to be ₹10,000 and ₹20,000. The portal raised them to ₹15,000 and ₹25,000 on 8 September 2025, under the restructured scheme. If you are searching for the old ₹20,000 loan, it is now the ₹25,000 second tranche. The third tranche stayed at ₹50,000.

Vendors who took older ₹10,000 and ₹20,000 loans still qualify for the third tranche once the second is closed. The portal says third-loan applications of ₹50,000 were generated automatically for vendors whose second loans were closed on or after 1 January 2025.

Before you apply

ItemDetails
Get the second loan marked closed. The guidelines require lenders to update full repayment on the portal promptly. Until they do, the third tranche does not open. Ask your branch for a closure letter.
Link your mobile number to Aadhaar. The portal uses it for OTP login and e-KYC. You can also log in with Aadhaar and biometric verification.
Keep a valid, unique UPI IDlinked to your savings account. It is mandatory.
Check your other loans.A lender may decline if any loan in your name is an NPA or has been written off.

Documents are limited to your Certificate of Vending, ID card or portal-issued Letter of Recommendation (LoR), Aadhaar, a passbook or statement, and the UPI ID. Lenders are told not to ask for anything more. A manually issued LoR is not valid.

How to apply for the ₹50,000 loan online

  1. Open pmsvanidhi.mohua.gov.in and click Apply For 50k under Apply for Loan.
  2. Select your state; Assam and Meghalaya have a separate option.
  3. Choose Login Via Mobile or Login Via Aadhaar, then Verify with OTP (or biometric).
  4. Check the pre-filled details from your earlier loans and confirm your bank account and UPI ID.
  5. Pick your lender, give the two reference details the form asks for, and submit.
  6. Note the application number shown on screen.
  7. When the lender picks up the application, sign the DPN and undertaking. The money is credited to your savings account.

For the third tranche only, the lender may ask for an optional one-time declaration on stock or use of funds. It cannot insist on receipts. The PM SVANidhi mobile app offers the same steps.

Applying through a CSC or the ULB

If you cannot apply yourself, go to an authorised Common Service Centre, your urban local body (ULB) office, or the block office in a census town. ULBs also engage resource persons to fill in applications for vendors. Take your Aadhaar-linked phone, since the OTP comes to it.

What the ₹50,000 loan costs

The Loan Operational Guidelines fix no interest rate for the third tranche; each lender charges its own, in line with RBI rules. SBI’s PM SVANidhi page still lists 9.90% (EBLR 8.15% + 1.75%), a rate dated 1 October 2025. SBI has since cut its EBLR to 7.90%, effective 15 December 2025, and has not refreshed the scheme page, so ask your branch what rate it will actually apply. At 9.90%, ₹50,000 over 36 months gives an EMI of about ₹1,611 and total interest of about ₹7,996.

If you pay every instalment on time, the maximum subsidy the guidelines allow is ₹5,579, credited in quarterly parts. Your net interest cost on that example then falls to about ₹2,417. Late instalments lose the subsidy for those months. Try other rates on the EMI calculator.

How to check PM SVANidhi application status

  1. Open pmsvanidhi.mohua.gov.in and click Know Your Application Status.

NPA or written-off account with any lendersince 23 December 2025, banks can reject these, and such applications go straight to the ineligible list. Settle the old account and get a closure letter first.
Wrong account number or UPI IDthe forms now validate the account number. Re-enter the details exactly as in your passbook.
Mobile not linked to Aadhaarupdate it at an Aadhaar centre (₹75 for a demographic update), then log in again.

A low credit score is not a valid reason to reject a PM SVANidhi loan. If a lender cites it, complain to the bank and your ULB. If the bank does not resolve it, you can go to the RBI Ombudsman. For technical problems, the portal lists pmsvanidhi.support@sidbi.in.
