How to convert the Dubai gold rate into rupees

  1. Note the AED per gram rate for your purity, with the time it was published.
  2. Find the latest AED to INR reference rate on the exchange rates today page or the RBI’s reference rate archive.
  3. Multiply the two: AED 519.50 × ₹26.1220 = ₹13,570 per gram.
  4. Add making charges and 5% UAE VAT to the AED price if you are pricing jewellery.
  5. If you will pay by card, use your card’s own rate and markup, which will be higher than the reference rate.

Dubai vs India gold rate

Using the two most recent published figures, 24K gold cost ₹15,236 a gram in India (IBJA, 16 September) against about ₹13,570 in Dubai (17 September). That is ₹1,666 a gram, or about 12%, more in India. For 22K the gap was ₹1,392 a gram, about 11%.

Most of the gap is import duty. India doubled basic customs duty on gold from 5% to 10% from 13 May 2026, and with the agriculture cess, reports put the total import duty at 15%. India also charges 3% GST on gold, which is not in the IBJA rate.

The comparison is only a guide. The two rates are from different days and use different benchmarks, and neither includes making charges.
