An HDFC home loan calculator works out your EMI from three inputs: loan amount, interest rate and tenure. At HDFC Bank’s lowest rate of 7.75%, a ₹50 lakh loan over 20 years costs ₹41,047 a month, and the EMI is ₹716 per lakh over 30 years. HDFC Limited merged into HDFC Bank on 1 July 2023, so “HDFC Ltd” loans are now HDFC Bank loans.

HDFC home loan: key facts for the calculator
| Input | HDFC Bank figure |
|---|---|
| Interest rate (floating) | 7.75% to 13.20% a year (repo rate 5.25% plus 2.50% to 7.95%) |
| Benchmark | RBI policy repo rate |
| Maximum tenure | 30 years |
| Processing fee | Up to 0.5% of the loan, minimum ₹4,000 |

Your own rate depends on your credit score and profile, so check the HDFC Bank home loan interest rate page before you run the numbers. The RBI’s next rate decision is due at its 5–7 October 2026 meeting, and a repo change reaches repo-linked loans at the next reset.
HDFC home loan EMI calculator: how the EMI is worked out
HDFC Bank uses the standard formula: EMI = P × R × (1+R)^N ÷ [(1+R)^N − 1]. P is the loan amount, R is the annual rate divided by 12 and by 100, and N is the tenure in months.
- Enter the loan amount you need, not the property price.
- Enter the rate HDFC Bank quotes you. If you have no quote yet, try both 7.75% and a higher figure to see the range.
- Enter the tenure in years, up to 30.
- Read the EMI, total interest and total amount payable.
- Change the tenure to see the trade-off between a lower EMI and higher total interest.
Our HDFC Bank home loan EMI calculator does this with HDFC’s current rates filled in.
EMI per ₹1 lakh at 7.75%
| Tenure | EMI per ₹1 lakh | Total interest per ₹1 lakh |
|---|---|---|
| 10 years | ₹1,200 | ₹44,013 |
| 15 years | ₹941 | ₹69,430 |
| 20 years | ₹821 | ₹97,028 |
| 25 years | ₹755 | ₹1,26,599 |
| 30 years | ₹716 | ₹1,57,908 |
Multiply by the number of lakhs you borrow. A ₹40 lakh loan over 20 years at 7.75% is about 40 × ₹821, or ₹32,840 a month.

HDFC home loan eligibility calculator
HDFC Bank’s eligibility calculator asks for four things: gross monthly income (net income for NRIs), tenure, interest rate and your other monthly EMIs. The bank says eligibility mainly depends on income and repayment capacity, along with age, credit history, credit score and existing debts.
A worked example shows how it runs. HDFC does not publish the share of income it allows for EMIs, so the 50% below is only an assumption:
- Gross income ₹75,000 a month, so ₹37,500 is available for all EMIs.
- With no other loans, ₹37,500 a month at 7.75% over 30 years supports a loan of about ₹52.3 lakh.
- With a ₹10,000 car loan EMI, ₹27,500 is left, which supports about ₹38.4 lakh.
HDFC suggests adding an earning co-applicant, declaring regular extra income and paying off short-term debts to raise eligibility. Try your own figures in the loan eligibility calculator.
HDFC home loan prepayment calculator
Under the RBI’s Pre-payment Charges on Loans Directions, 2025, banks cannot charge a prepayment fee on floating-rate loans to individuals for non-business purposes. The rule covers loans sanctioned or renewed from 1 January 2026 and applies whatever the source of the money, with no lock-in.
Take a ₹50 lakh loan at 7.75% over 20 years. After five years, about ₹43.6 lakh is still owed. A ₹5 lakh part-payment at that point changes things as follows:
- Keep the EMI at ₹41,047: the loan ends 34 months early and you save about ₹9.26 lakh in interest.
- Keep the tenure: the EMI drops to about ₹36,341 and you save about ₹3.47 lakh in interest.
Model your own part-payments with the prepayment calculator, and ask HDFC Bank which option it will apply before you pay.
Top-up and balance transfer calculations
A top-up loan is a separate loan on top of your home loan, so its EMI uses the same formula with the top-up amount, rate and tenure. HDFC Bank lists top-up loans as a separate product, so check its rate before you calculate. HDFC’s 7.75% starting rate applies to home loans, balance transfers, renovation and extension loans. If you are moving a loan to HDFC, compare the EMI on your outstanding balance at both banks. Then subtract the new processing fee from any interest you save.
